About the Composer
Born in Santiago de Chile, Mauro Godoy Villalobos grew up in Växjö in Sweden.  He now lives and works as a composer in Stockholm.

Villalobos started studying guitar  at the Music Conservatory “Civica Scuola Di Musica Claudio Abbado” in Milan with maestro Aldo Minella.  In Sweden Mauro continued to study composition with Johan Hammerth, Henrik Strindberg  and Per Mårtensson. He has also received lessons from visiting guest professor Sven-David Sandström.  

Villalobos’ compositions both solo works and orchestral pieces have been performed  worldwide on a regular basis. His compositions include works for solo guitar, duos with  piano, chamber music, choral music, works for string orchestra, wind orchestra and  symphony orchestra.

Villalobos has been awarded multiple scholarships and have won nine international
composition competitions. Among others:    

  • 1st Prize Mozart on…International Composition Competition - Osaka, Japan 2016   

  • 1st Prize Claxica International Composition Competition - Bologna, Italy 2015

A large number of entries was submitted for the V International Uuno Klami Composition Competition. The competition office received no fewer than almost 230 works, 37 nationalities. The jury has also drawn up a separate list of good works that did not reach the finals.Habitat for guitar and Orchestra by Mauro G-Villalobos has been chosen for this list of recommended works.
